bravely
I am looking for the best php editor on the market. OSCommerce is my first project with PHP, and I expect to be working with it for a long time. Up to now I have had great success using just a standard text editor to learn the ins and outs, but now I want to move into a commercial php editing package. I am hoping that someone who edits php on a regular basis and has tested several different editors can give recommendations. One feature I am looking for (but don't know if it's available) is to be able to track variable and function usage across many files. I would also like the ability to build a library of functions. I have downloaded a trial version of Zend Studio and it seems very powerful, but I have not learned enough of php yet to determine if this program falls short in any aspects. Please post your favorite program along with any particularly useful features and any shortcomings.
wizardsandwars
Ultra Edit is by far my favorite. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help. dreamscape
I use macromedia dreamweaver MX... dreamweaver Ultra dev 4.0 is also very good. The only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke

delaen
I use Homesite 5, although I'm not sure if it has all the things you are looking for. It's the one I've found that I'm most comfortable with though.
