Remove 'Create New Account' Options

Recommended Posts

What we're wanting to do is control who has the ability to purchase from our site. We will create our users' accounts via Admin and send our customers the details once they purchase one of our 'Membership' packages.

Here's how it works:

Without having an account, a customer can't purchase. In order to gain an account with us they must purchase a Monthly or Yearly Membership from us. After they make the purchase, an email will be sent to them with details of their login details, thus enabling them to successfully purchase anything from the site.

So, the question is, how do we go about disabling any 'Create New Account' options on the website? but still leave the 'Existing Customers Login' options?

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

There are a few contributions that make your shop "private".

This is one: Private Shop

I believe there are a few others that do about the same thing.

I haven't used any of them so I can't say how well they do/don't work.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

Thank you, but we don't want it to be invisible as such, we still want our potential customers to be able to see the prices (this will be the dangling carrot) the only thing is they won't be allowed to create a new account, hence disabling them from proceding through the checkout.

Looks like you've been around long enough to find your way to the contributions.

I can't say that I've seen one that just disables creating an account.

It may be as simple as commenting out links to that part of code in a few osC files, then removing/renaming /catalog/create_accout.php

Good luck.

Cheers. You're probably right. Does anyone know which lines of code need editing/altering?
