Thought QPB was right contribution, but its not!

Hi there.. I THOUGHT that i had the correct contribution when i installed the Quantity Price Break addon, but apparently, it will not work for what i am doing

I am building a site for a printing company, and they do business cards, postcards, ect... They sell them in the quantity of 1000, 2500, and 5000

I would like to show the prices in the table like the QPB does, but do i have to do this with attributes being the "quantity" and make the product price $0.00 OR can i actually do this with an existing contribution..

I added the Attribute Option Type, but i CAN NOT get it working yet!!

also, is there a contribution that adds a "Prices Starting From" instead of a BUY NOW button in the product listing??

this is what it looks like now, using the QPB:

Product Info Page

As you can see, it looks HORRIBLE because the 1+ price is .08 and he doesnt even sell them under 1000!

Hey Lindsay,

I can't really help with version RC2, but you should be able to accomplish what you want using product attributes.

Make qty package 1000 the default and then add from there.

Don't think of the pricing per card but rather Package 1 (1000), Package 2 (2500) and Package 3 (5000).

I spotted your other post regarding attributes not showing up. Unfortunately that's beyond my knowledge.

Did you happen to check this out in the knowledge base - Product Attributes? It's a bit slim for info.

Good luck!

In the QPBPP version for SPPC a minimum order quantity was added (not implement in the "regular" QPBPP version). The code for that table also uses that: when there is a setting for a minimum order quantity it will use the first price break at or above that quantity and not the "1+". Of course the price still looks horrible but you could add code to look for a minimum order quantity and if is larger than x multiply the prices by say 100 or 1000 to show the price per those numbers.

JHandle, the issue with my attributes in this post is not going to be answered with the knowledge base (i dont think) because it is a contribution that i just cant get to work. The ability to have an option type isnt a basic function.

Jan, if i added the QPB for SPPC, would it not work properly because i DONT have SPPC? If I added SPPC just to make this work and not use it, will it still WORK? Or will the QPB with minimum qty only work when a customer has special pricing enabled..

I guess i'm just confused as to why this was only added to the QPB for SPPC and not just as a function/feature.. i wonder how hard it would be to just alter the code in the basic contribution to work that way but without adding SPPC/

What I intended to convey was that you could use the minimum qty code in that version and port it to the regular QPBPP. Shouldn't be to difficult.

Not too difficult I guess but someone needs the time and drive to do it. I haven't had that the last months. QPBPP for SPPC was quite a bit of work and sometimes other things in life get more priority. It is a pretty thankless job writing contributions....

Jan, i COMPLETELY understand that!! 100% but my other issue is, i havent even been able to find someone to do a contribution that i would "support" at this point. Seems everyone i know is rather busy. I dont mind offering some money in supporting the creation of contributions i need, this way not only am i getting what i want, but also contributing to the osc community - because i'm not really acoder.. i can only contribute so much..
