Formatting and empty space problems

I am having a really difficult time find where to edit out a few empty spaces on my cart but can't seem to find them.

Look at it here:

http://www.saltonseadoc.com/shop/catalog/

First the header background is a little too big... so you get that little overlap of background under the logo.

Second, there is an extra space where the HEADER_TITLE used to be .... right above featured items. I tried to just remove the HEADER_TITLE part of the index.php.... and it still doesn't work.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure how you set your stores width (still lists it as 100%), but check two things.

Make sure your header image (ppss_logo.png) is the same width as what you set your store too.

There's an extra cell closing tag </td> at the end of your header image cell -

I'm not sure how you set your stores width (still lists it as 100%), but check two things.
Make sure your header image (ppss_logo.png) is the same width as what you set your store too.

I can't help you with were "you" set your store width. I have mine set to 100% and it is full screen. I only know about this - Setting the Table Width.

Ok, let's try your problems again...

Open your shop/catalog/includes/header.php file.

Look for something that resembles this:

First I have to ask if you edited the index.php file in the correct place?

Reason I ask, the changes I suggested start around line 288 but you are receiving an error for line 130, which should be this according to the error message -

Please double check.

Not trying to be nasty or anything, I just want to know if I need to explain things differently. Do you know what the different HTML tags are such as; the opening and closing for table, row and cell? Also are you familar with commenting out?

You could try breaking it down into smaller steps and testing after commenting out one table row at a time.

Once you get the code so it clears out the space above your Featured Items box, follow the table structure down below the query section where it starts the closing tags. From what you posted and my edits, it looks like you'll end up needing something along this line:
