Error Logging if Card is Declined

~Kira

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone and please let me apologize if this is posted elsewhere. Trying to search for "error log" or "declined card" is returning way too many results so I've just decided to ask this simple question. Does OS Commerce keep a record of all transactions, or even transaction errors?

Here's the situation:

1) The store is processing. It's receiving orders. It has been for a while now.

2) Yesterday, someone emails the client (store owner) that his card was declined twice and it's a good card.

3) Now the client is all over me about why isn't the store processing. He wants to see logs of transactions, so I looked for them but don't believe OSC keeps them anywhere. It is the merchant who should know why a (supposedly) good card was declined. I know what authorize.net transaction logs look like, but I've never used QBMS and their phone support is nil.

If we have a log, I can't find it. I am also wondering if there is perhaps a contribution that would pull the info when the transaction goes to the merchant and keep a log there for the client to see in the backend. How do most people using QBMS desktop version see their card errors?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Kira,

I am having the same issue and working to solve the same problem. I just launched my store yesterday. Some orders are going through and some are not. Of course, when I try it myself it always works so I cannot produce the error. Authorize.net understandably wants me to produce an error code for them. Have you been able to locate a solution for this?

I found a solution. It is in this contribution http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,4091

Basically, it appears that the Authorize.net I had installed were not able to handle all the scenarios my customers had. Some cards were approved and some weren't. Now all are being approved. And, this provides a much nicer interface for the credit card processing.

We are having this exact same problem. Just started yesterday. Zero changes made to osCommerce in the last couple months. All of a sudden multiple transactions are failing. Weird thing is, Authorize.net doesn't even show an attempt. It's like there's a connection problem and the attempt times out. The error message the customer gets reads:

- Your credit card could not be authorized for this reason. Please correct any information and try again or contact us for further assistance.

No error code, so I'm having difficulties trouble-shooting. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

-Kevin
