Help!

Hi,

 

I am new to oscommerce. I have always used Front Page. Anyway, I went to the tutorials. I followed it (I thought). I was editing the home page in the middle. The tutorial told me to go to Catalogue--includes--languages--english and download the index.php. I did that and kept a copy. It showed on the tutorial what part of the info to remove. I did that and typed in what I wanted in there. I then uploaded it and went to my site. This is what showed:

What did I do wrong?

I have another question. If I want to make another paragraph, would I put </br> <br> to skip spaces for a new paragraph?
