Mod rewrite advice please

Hi,

 

As per my topic (a couple of posts below this one) It looks like i may have to change my domain name.

 

Ken (gemrock) gave a couple of ideas in his replys to my last post - but sadly it looks like I can not avoid have to make the domain name change.

 

I have been looking into this and been reading about using mod rewrite in a ht.access file to implement the change.

 

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mynewdomain.co.uk/$1 [R=301,L]

 

I would be grateful if anyone could answer my questions on this,

 

1) If I had a old link in googles results (for example)

 

http://www.myolddomain.co.uk/sample-item-p-506.html will it re_write to http://www.mynewdomain.co.uk/sample-item-p-506.html

 

Or will it just strip the /sample-item-p-506.html and send them to http://www.mynewdomain.co.uk/

 

2) As you can see from the above example above I am running seo urls which uses mod rewrite? (i think) - can the to re writes run together?
