Kanie
A PDF isn't even an image. In short, PDF files cannot be used as images inside osCommerce or on the web at all. PDF files cannot be directly displayed within an HTML page without additional software reliance, ie. Flash Player. There are freeware applications available that will convert your multi-page PDF files into web-ready image files - JPG, GIF or PNG.

Any ideas? trying to upoad a pdf as an image will not work as the pdf has to be viewed in acrobat or reader. the only way (i think) you could use pdf would be as a downloadable link. why dont you put a jpg product image and perhaps a pdf link to more detailed info in the product description? in terms of file formats i have used jpg, gif and png for product images. i think osc would support any image format? cheers jay

It is just a collection of code which will handle any image format. What determines what "can" be used are the browsers. What determines what "should" be used is what you need the image for. Jpgs are typically used for images that need better resolutions. Gif's and png's are required if your image needs a transparent background. However, png's are not fully supported still so you need to be careful with where you use them. And eps, as far as I know, are not supported at all. You also need to take into the account the size of the image. An image in one format can be considerably larger than in another and large images will slow your site down.
