Upgrade without overwriting template?

Hi,

I have a build of osc bundled with a template but the osc version is old (1.2, I think). Would uploading the osc directories from the new version of OSC also overwrite the template?

Should I just pull the template out of the bundle and install it to a new OSC? It seems to me that OSC is tightly coupled with the templates so I'm very confused by the templating.

My host has an autoinstaller for OSC but I have not had luck using templates with it.

Suggestions on how to do this?

Thanks!

i guess you would need some one with experience to look at your site to find out things like the template, how it was 'bundled' with osc and the exact osc version plus all add-ons, as you don't seem to know. where you got osc version 1.2? is there such a version number?

I have written a step by step tutorial that you could use to do exactly what you want. Even though the tutorial was written for those who purchased a template that was created using an older version of osC to be installed upon a new version of osC, it will apply to your use as well.

It involves using the Simple Template System add-on which makes it a piece of cake.

I am having this issue too. I am using the Template Monster which a osCommerce 2.2 MS2 version. Now, I need to upgrade it the latest version which 2.2 RC2a.

Is there any patches that can automatically upgrade the version without interrupts the template.

Thanks for your helps and contributions.
