First, you can set the categories box to not show the a category with an additional where clause, which slows down the system ... or you put an IF statement around the section that includes the category in the list. The IF statement being faster. Next, other boxes need updating too for this, like what's new, specials, reviews, etc. What's new display needs updating as well to exclude products from this category. Yes, this can be done. You just have to be careful not to miss anything. :D
