I am looking to categorize my shipping

Hi everyone,

I have been looking for a contribution that would categorize my products into classes depending on how the product can be shipped.

For example:

1) I have items that are too heavy to be shipped so I have 'pick up in store only' choice in the checkout process for those items. The product description notifies the customer that it can only be picked up in store.

2) I have regular products that can be shipped based on product weight so I have table rates set up for those items.

3) I have LIVE products that require a 'box charge' and 'handling fee' and are shipped and are charged those fees plus shipping based on a table rate using weight.

So, I am looking for a module that will allow me to assign one of the above shipping classes to each product. Radio buttons or checkbox that would limit that item to a certain shipping method. The LIVE shipping method is my main concern here because of the box fee and handling charge.

Anyone ever see a contribution like this ?

I appreciate any suggestion you may have.

Thank you

Chris

Hi Jim, thank you for the suggestion. I looked at the MVS contribution but I see it hasn't been updated since Dec 2007. Has this been tested with RC2a and is there a complete (debugged) version ?

Thank you

MVS probably won't be updated again until 2.2 final is avaialable, or Craig or I get enough time to do a rollup release. It's usable as is, so long as you have Register Globals on.

Jim,

Thank you for your response. I will look at it more closely. The site I am looking to alter is heavily modified including SPPC which is always tricky. Thank you again for your suggestion.
