hello i would like to know if you guys have any idea why this is happening.

Problem:

When someone buys an item and the ship and billing address are in california ( we are located in california) then the Oscommerce charges tax ,BUT

is the buyer ships to let say Gorgia and the billing is on California then the Oscommerce doesn't charge tax.

any idea why this is happening?

we want to be able to charge tax based on the billing address not the shipping address any ideas how to acheive this?

Hi Oscar,

I am in Ontario, Canada and have used this setup with success. I believe it will work for you with a little adjusting.

To give you a brief rundown, in Canada we have provincial sales taxes (PST) and Federal sales taxes (GST).. and another animal called harmonized taxes... which I won't get into (which actually compunds the taxes)

Anyway,, The way I have it set up,, because I am in Ontario,, I have to charge both the GST and PST.

However, when shipping to other provinces,, I only charge the GST

I have just verifed the following to be true.

When logging into my account and have it shipped to my home address,,, I am charged GST and PST to the items purchased, plus GST only on the shipping.

When changed the shipping address, I was charged for the GST on the items purchased and GST on the Shipping,,, (not the PST because it was out of province)

I don't know how your tax system is set up,, but if you can jot it down,, I may be able to help,,,

Here is the contribution: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/1124 Read throught the instructions and follow them to the letter,, or you will have problems,, then adjust them to suit,,, it that helps

Good luck

Brian
