New installation aiming a 100% local installation on a standalone PC

I really have checked tons of Qs&As – but still I am trapped in the dark cage...

 

As a newbie on osCommerce, I need some help for setting up a 100% local installation on a standalone PC.

 

So fare I am using:

- oscommerce-2.2rc2a

- Apache/1.3.29 (Win32)

- MySQL Server 5.0 Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.27, for Win32 (ia32)

 

Now I stick at the "Database Server" settings... saying:

 

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

 

Who can help me telling what I am doing wrong and how I could succeed?
