How do I set up a database using MySQL

I have neve done this before and am trying (very hard) to set up a MySQL database account to install OsCommerce.

 

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Log into your Hosting account and create a 'blank' database using SQL 4 or SQL 5, depending on what your server is set up for. Make note of the name, and password you create while making the blank database. You will also need the name of the database which will look something like this:

 

p50mysqlXXX.secureserver.net

 

When you install your newly uploaded Oscommerce software, it will ask you : DB_SERVER_NAME, DB_SERVER_USERNAME, DB_SERVER_PASSWORD.........this is the information you entered when you created the Database. Most servers take some time ( 30 minutes to 24 hrs) to create the blank database.......so, do it, then go back to the install process later.

 

The process is not that difficult..........just follow directions.

No matter what i do I keep getting

"Access denied for user 'rareseed'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"

try using your web site control panel username as a prefix for the database name and username

 

server = localhost

 

username = websiteuser_databaseuser

 

password = password

 

database = websiteuser_databasename
