Berkz Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 how do I hide the url so the customer just sees www.shopname.com all the time.. and not www.shopname.com/default.php?somecode; ? some more code..? And also how do i change the color on the boxes..? Regards, berkz
Christian Lescuyer Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Why would you do that? 1) It's an absolute pain for your visitors 2) You can't hide the URL from knowledgeable people Anyway, you could achieve that by setting a frame around default.php. I have never tried it (for obvious reasons). Christian Lescuyer
Berkz Posted January 23, 2003 Author Posted January 23, 2003 Well, I thought perhaps it would give it a bit more clean look. Perhaps It's right. But what about those boxes how do I change their color?
toolcrazy Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 You can change that in stylesheet.css in the /catalog/ root. Steve -------------------------
Christian Lescuyer Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 Well, I thought perhaps it would give it a bit more clean look. Perhaps It's right. But what about those boxes how do I change their color? Displaying only the site name and not the whole URL is BAD. See Jakob Nielsen Alertbox on "Deep Linking" here http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20020303.html. On the other hand (and this might be your motivation), in his "Top Ten Web-Design Mistakes 2002" (http://useit.com/alertbox/20021223.html), Jakob Nielsen lists URL> 75 characters as #9. You can try to set Search-Engine Safe URLs. YMMV. Christian Lescuyer
