Guest Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Why is it that we cannot edit a post that we have just made? I think if that feature was enabled than some (at least for me) after thought posts could be quickly fixed by the author and make the form better for everyone.
Guest Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 If you had done a search for editing posts, you would have found out that changing the posts messes with the newserver synchronization.
dreamscape Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 because this forum is syncronized with a news server for the little whinny newsgroup people who are too afraid to come over to the world wide web and join the 21st century. wizardsandwars Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003    @ Dreamscape. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: As of Oct 2006, I'm not as active in this forum as I used to be, but I still work with osC quite a bit. If you have a question about any of my posts here, your best bet is to contact me though either Email or PM in my profile, and I'll be happy to help.
Guest Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 My server won't let me access news groups. It seems that most of the news groups are all about binaries and the gods of my ISP has a problem with some of those binaries. Do you really think there are that many people accessing with newsgroup instead of here? Is there a way to count the newsgroup hits?
toolcrazy Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Besides, the post a reply does have a Preview button. Use that and edit till you are happy and then post it. WOW my 300th post. Steve -------------------------
Jan0815 Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Do you really think there are that many people accessing with newsgroup instead of here? Is there a way to count the newsgroup hits? I am one of those. I like it to download all news entries and then disconnect from the net to read stuff offline. I am often traveling with train and unfortunately there is no global, cheap WLAN solution I could use. And with newsservers it was never possible and will never be possible to edit something you sent. Which is logical, BTW. Imagine a thread where you say "X is wrong" and you get a lot of arguments that prove you wrong, so you decide to edit your post and make it say "X is right". Now the whole thread doesn't make sense anymore. <sarcasm> If you are accustomed to think about what you are saying, there is no problem ;-) </sarcasm> You can't have everything. That's why trains have difficulty crossing oceans, and hippos did not adapt to fly. -- from the OpenBSD mailinglist.
