Images Won't Upload

Hi all,

All of a sudden I have a problem when uploading images. When I make a new product or edit an existing product I click 'preview' and I get the message:

Success: File upload saved successfully.

but the problem is the image does not display in admin or in the catalog. I checked the path to the image directory and it is correct. Then I checked the image directory with my FTP program and I no file was actually uploaded.

Any ideas why the image is not being uploaded and saved? I've checked the permissions and they are set to 777, but even if I try setting the permissions lower (644) it still says it successfully uploaded the image. Huh?

All ideas are appreciated...Thanks!

Have you run out of space on your web host?

No. I have plenty of space on my host. I can manually ftp the file to the correct directory and it works...it's just for some reason the upload doesn't work anymore, even though it says it was successful. It used too work in the original install, but for some reason it doesn't work anymore.

I've checked the permissions and they are set to 777,

If you have 777 permissions on a folder it's only a matter of time until your site is hacked.

It's only a question of when, and how bad will it be...

:o

Folder permissions should be no higher that 755.

File permissions (for the most part) no higher than 644.

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

Did you manage to solve the problem? As I am having the same thing here. If you have, please share with us.

Thanks for the great help

I have not solved it yet, but if I figure it out (or you do) I'll post it here. Please do the same if you fix it. Thx.
