AJMax Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Ok, I've searched the posts for an answer to this problem, and found a few of them, but my problem differs just a little bit. I get the following error message: 1046 - No Database Selected select configuration_key as cfgKey, configuration_value as cfgValue from configuration [TEP STOP] The reason I said my problem is a little bit different is because after installation, everything was working fine. The default.php page loaded without any problems what so ever. I started to modify the general look of things, never touched any config files, mostly just the includes to change some images and things. Then, I loaded the default.php page and got the above error. I've checked and doubled checked and triple checked the config files, and also all of the minor changes I made to the basic design pages, and I can't seem to find the problem. Like I said, I never changed anything in the config files, so ANY help would be greatly appreciated. On a lighter note, up untill this little error problem, this is deffinately the best ecomm. setup I've had yet. Before I downloaded it I read through the boards and the docs, and the support is unmatched, especially for Open Source. Thanks to everybody here in advance, it's you guys who make programs like this work. If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up to much space!
Guest Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 I started to modify the general look of things, never touched any config files, mostly just the includes to change some images and things. You don't have to mess with the configuration files to mess things up. I would suggest loading your back up and start your modifications again. One step at a time and test each step. Oh, if you don't already have it, the manual at http://www.oscdox.com are very good.
AJMax Posted January 22, 2003 Author Posted January 22, 2003 BirdBrain, thanks for the reply! I tried that, loaded all the original (backup) files again, and still couldn't get it. I actually downloaded the manual before I downloaded the program itself, so I have that to help. I figure if worse comes to worse, I'll put back up the original install files and run the install again. I haven't really lost much, so it won't hurt if I have to re-install, and installation is easy. I was just hoping maybe somebody had an idea of what the problem might be. Thanks again for the reply. Jan0815 Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 osCommerce seems to have problems connecting to the database. Maybe your ISP changed the name of the database? Or maybe the database has been emptied for some unknown reason? HTH You can't have everything. AJMax Posted January 22, 2003 Author Posted January 22, 2003 I ended up running the installation again, and everything went fine. The error message is gone, and the connection to the database is made without a problem. The strange thing is, all of the cosmetic changes I've done so far stayed that way. Running intall again didn't get rid of any of them. I still can't quite figure out what happned, but it all worked out. If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up to much space!
