Guest
i have a tax zone defined for florida; however, when i have a customer orderign from texas they get billed tax ......anyone know why this may be happening...the product is listed as taxable item but it should only be for florida not texas.... i have tax zone defined for florida, a tax class defined called 'Taxable Goods' which is linked to the florida tax zone under tax rates. is this the right process? if not, where does oscommerce make the decision of customers location. badjuju
Here's what I did for IL residents. Verify your tax zone setup in admin or you can start over using the info below: Charge tax to only IL residents: ------------------------------------ * Under Tax Zones, add your state. Use abbreviation - do NOT spell it out * Click on the folder for the state: - INSERT United States - Select your taxable state from the drop down list * Under Tax Rates, set your percentage for the state(s) * Under Tax Classes, it is taxable goods * Verify merchandise is set up as such within the product set-up: - Categories/Products - Edit Products and select tax class. If you use paypal and want all tax and shipping to be done in osc, remove shipping/tax info on ur paypal admin page.
badjuju
One more thing to check: First go to your admin section and turn on shipping, tax, etc. You will then need to go to the Paypal module -I'm using Paypal IPN and verify these settings. Add Shipping to Amount True Add Tax to Amount True
hobbzilla
Well, I don't know if this helps you or not.. but I have noticed that osc is basing their tax calculation on the tax rate based on the "SHIP TO" address and not the "BILL TO" (which I belive to be in error. In Arkansas, it is the billing address that matters.)
