Thanks again Peter, I see what you mean. LOL ... boy, I have made some changes since you saved those links!

 

I have printed out both directory index.php pages (15 pages of codes each) and am systematically going through the codes to compare with the compatibility link. This will not beat me!

 

I will see what I can find and check back in to let you know what is happening, in short order. There are no words that express how grateful I am for all your very valuable help this far. :blush:

I just had a look at your index.php file that you posted earlier and being as it hasn't been modified, I can make the changes for you. So if you are struggling, you can save this as index.php and use it. Rename yours to .bak just in case.

LOLOL ... oh boy, my friend in England has now offered to buy me a wig. I showed her what was happening with my site.

 

Anywhooo ... I copied the codes from your generous post, I put those codes in a text document and named it index_Peter.php in Unicode. I renamed my original (messed up) index.php.bak and then renamed your codes to index.php ... now a refresh and you just have to go see this! I hope you are online, this is too funny to pass up. First, notice the page title in the toolbar tab, it reads <?php echo TITLE; ?> and all the codes are now showing up on the pretty page, no images, just columns of codes. Go see before I fix it back to my broken page ... HERE

 

Have I copied or applied the codes you so generously applied wrong? At this point, I am just hysterical with laughter.

Well, I had already taken the index.php out of the httpsdocs/shop folder, as that was apparently not the one that I needed, due to the httpdocs/shop/index.php being the one that overwrites everything. I don't think that was wrong, (was it?), due to the main page still being able to show.

 

As you see in the image, I named my messy index.php.bak, then loaded your codes (I checked and it is a .php upon loading).

 

When I stopped laughing at seeing all the codes on the page, I went to the directory, opened the file and began to search each line for junk that might have traveled from the copy off the web to the paste on the Notepad document. Immediately, I found that junk had travelled, in the form of spaces at the prefix of the codes [][] and took those out. Save and refresh. Bingo ... now no codes, no page, no nothing!

 

I really wish I could have a 2nd or 3rd pair of eyes inside my File Manager, I know whatever this is has to be so silly that I just am not seeing it. Suggestions? :blink:

Okay, funny codes are showing again ... phew ... got that in as much.

 

I checked the source codes and they are the same as the uploaded index.php, but when you look at the front page it would appear that something is missing after line 21.

Okay ... now I have tested the site and found that only some of my categories show a white background behind my products, rather than the color by hex that I have specified. That shouldn't be much to fix.

 

Next, tested the cart ... everything from clicking the check out button to completing the process has the original osCommerce banner and original white background. It looks like I never ammended my site colors at all.

 

When the check out is complete, I am now redirected to the original osCommerce index page ... the one with the highlighted text to show where to edit things.

 

Sooooo ... looks like I am off to do some more searching. :wub:Peter, I can't thank you enough for helping me along the way you have. My hat is off to you!

I think I know what the problem is, but am not sure I know where to go to fix it. I am getting very frustrated and when I did the final test, I found the checkout success linked a customer back to a raw osCommerce index.php

 

I found yet another index.php in the shop/languages/english folder and what appeared to be the same code prior to the fix I put above. Refresh ... and earned myself a blank page.

 

I posted for help, but apparently I stay up longer than forum members, LOL ... anyway, when I got up this morning, I decided to do a restore from the OSC Admin/Backup ... now, I get a blank page when I click to checkout and a blank page when I click My Account.

Did you delete files from the httpdocs directory? Can you go in there and check we have some, cos I think maybe we don't. :unsure:

No, I didn't delete any files, but I did look anyway. I also have the backup from my host on my computer, they but a shop backup in my httpdocs folder for me upon request. They say it was sometime within the last 24 hours, and I can only hope that it was before the one I made with OSC Admin/Backup.

 

Honestly, I'm afraid now ... I have seen the same apparently identical files in so many places, that I am concerned about uploading the back up into the wrong directory.

 

Httpsdocs vs. httpdocs ... arrggggg! :blush:

 

EDIT: I checked the files in the root/httpsdocs/shop folder and everything is the same as the ones from the backup. Apparently they did the backup around the same time that I managed to fix the index.php yesterday! With that said, maybe it is possible I have the fixed files on my computer now, just need to figure out where they go and put them there. Then my only issue would be that I would need to fix the raw OSC default index.php that checkout success was sending me to.

 

Any ideas? Feel like wearing a wig for awhile ... LOL

I fixed the intital 1054 error from my Categories, but now....

Its showing when you click on a Series (bottom left of home page) letter :blink: .

I had help with this site, a loooonnnnnggggg time ago. That help isn't available right now, so I need to fix it myself.

I also have added a test book to the Firemen Category, but you can't see any of the text that I entered about the book except for the title and price. :huh:

Hey girl, I got your e-mail, and Peter was taking the night off. He sleeps when we are awake due to where he lives.

 

When you put the fix in for the 1054 product_id, did you do that to both the httpdocs/shop/index.php and the httpSdocs/shop/index.php?

I'm so glad to see you were able to correct that because I'm having the same problem. I opened the link with the instructions about what to replace but I'm such a noob I don't know where to go to find the categories file. Is it in my files on my web host or is it an OSCommerce file in the Configuration tool? I've looked all over and decided I'd rather look dumb than never get ti fixed.

Stay out of the files in the Configuration Tools, those will get you to a world of hurt in a quick hurry.

 

The index.php file is in your httpdocs/store folder ... there is another one in the httpsdocs/store folder if you have a secure server

Thanks Tigger68. I want to let others know that Tigger68's suggested changes to index.php fixed my 1054 error as well. I had made all the "(" and ")" changes for the SQL5 From/Left Join issue and wasted an entire night and morning until Tigger's suggested changes were made.
