SSL cert seal not showing

grandmasterjack

Recommended Posts

Last night my SSL cert seal changed and disapeared this morning here is a copy of of the ticket I sent my host who supplied the SSL and the reply I got from them. You will also see another ticket I have sent back with no answere yet.

What I want to know is if there is something that could have happened on my site to cause this. I thought maybe it could be something to do with javascript, can any one advise. And could you test my site to see if you are seeing the SSL seal in the space below "advanced search" on my site.

My site

Thanks jack

Hi this is a copy of a ticket I sent;

ID: 352157 Domain: babiesandladies.co.uk

Issue Date: 2008-11-07 05:40am Owner: babiesan

Category: Other Technical Issues->SSL related issues->SSL related problems

Subject: SSL related problems

Description: Hi, if you have received this already it is not showing that it has been sent.

My SSL certifiacate seal is not showing, it was showing untill last night. It then changed and said something like "Globalsign internet". Today there is just a space where it should show and if I put the cursor over it and click I get http://www.alphassl.com/. It does not show my certificate information.

This is the srcipt I have installed;

<span id="___sitess__alt_img_wrapper_middle_image">

<a href="http://www.alphassl.com/" target="_blank" title="SSL Certificate" >

<img alt="SSL Certificate" border=0 id="___sitess__alt_img" src="//seal.alphassl.com/SiteSeal/images/alpha_seal_noscript_en.gif" ></a></span>

<script type="text/javascript" src="//seal.alphassl.com/SiteSeal/alphassl_siteSeal_m.js" defer></script>

and it has been working fine up til now.

Please will you look into this,

Thanks Jack

I sent back;

I don't think you have understood my problem. I don't need the script placed on my site I have already done that. I did so when I first had the SSL certificate installed by Siteground. The certificate seal has been showing and working fine untill last night. If you look at my site you will see a space below search. This is where the certificate was showing. If you put the cursor over this a hand appears. If you click it is a link to http://alphassl.com and nothing else. Before this happened if I click on the certificate seal it would show all the details of my certificate.

I have taken the script from Alphassl again and placed it in different places on my site and nothing shows but if you put the cursor over it you can link to there site.

As it was you who suppied the certificate and not myself you may be able to contact Alphassl and find out what is wrong with there seal.

I was not happy that the ticket was closed straight away and I was not able to comment back.

Jack

I had a similar problem and it turned out that my host had not installed my seal incorrectly. After 4 days of their being unable to do it correctly, I moved my account. Try contacting AlphaSSL tech support & see what they say about your problem. When I did that with Geotrust, they gave me a free reissue of my cert to be installed with my new host.

Don't you hate when you contact support with a problem & they get back to you with a form letter showing they never even read your message? That makes me so mad!

Jack,

I see that when the seal is unavailable, it just shows a blank space. Is this done with your script or by the ssl company?

I added a seal from a scanning company and I noticed they were down a few minutes yesterday. So instead of a nice security seal or even a blank space, I had the empty box and ugly red X in its place.

That really makes my site look secure. I would like my seal to be blank when unavailable.

Wow, that's not good. I would be concerned about how often that happens. In addition, that's waaay too long to wait for this issue to be resolved.

Okay guys couldn't get back to this before now I had to go to work yuk!. It was back on within an hour but now I'm getting this at the bottom of the page;

"Done, but with errors on page." I can only assume it is the SSL seal that is causing the error, could I be wrong?

Hi Tim, I believe it was the SSL company, I don't fancy the box with the red X in it. At least I still had the padlock showing.

This is the script for the SSL seal;

<span id="___sitess__alt_img_wrapper_middle_image">

<a href="http://www.alphassl.com/" target="_blank" title="SSL Certificate" >

<img alt="SSL Certificate" border=0 id="___sitess__alt_img" src="//seal.alphassl.com/SiteSeal/images/alpha_seal_noscript_en.gif" ></a></span>

<script type="text/javascript" src="//seal.alphassl.com/SiteSeal/alphassl_siteSeal_m.js" defer></script>

I don't know if there is anything in there that would make the seal blank if not working properly.
