eskvinyl
Hi, I have just installed and configured oscommerce on one host, but because they are very unreliable i want to transfer to another hosting company. Can anyone tell me what the best way to transfer my website to another host is. I tried to just copy the files over, but the insallation is configured for the old host. Can anyone provide a checklist of things to do when transferring hosts. Regards Ben

This will create and populate the tables in the database. It will also create the configure.php file you will need. Delete the install directory as before. Then upload your files so they overwrite the original ones. Be sure not to overwrite the new configure.php file though. It sounds like you weren't live yet on the old host. If you were you will need to backup the database on the old host and restore it on the new host. Even if you weren't, you may want to do this if you installed mods that modified the database structure. Otherwise, you will have to manually modify the structure on the new database yourself.
