Hi ,

I have had a new site made and I think it is really really good. I am very pleased with it.

My only issue is here at home on the laptop, It basically freezes when trying to load a page. I can click on more info on a product and it will take me there but if I want to hit the back button, I could wait anywhere from 2- 3 minutes to get back to the previous shopping page.

I hate to think how many customers this is happening to.

It doesn't happen on my desktop at the job but here on my laptop sometimes it sounds like the laptop is like an airplane trying to take off.The hour glass will just keep going around and around, meanwhile I can load other pages on other websites no problem.

But I have to wait to see if my website has finished downloading.

Can someone please take a look and tell me if it's the images.I fit is the images does it mean I will have to go in to all my products and delete some as I have multiple shots of certain products .

Or can I just reduce the size of the images and that will help.

If you have any other suggestions please feel free to offer them.

My website is yptrading.com

Thank you

Luckky

I just wanted to add that there are times that when the site is open for a while it seems to operate better

Right now I am having no issues with it at all. Very baffling and frustrating as I have no clue how to find out how often this is happening apart from checking random computers and laptops.

Yes, that front page is way too fat. Over 3.5 MB in images alone. Yikes! My analyzer shows 39.49 seconds load time at a T1 data rate. Compression would help a bit, but not on those images. You should reduce the total to less than 1 MB max.

You need to cut way down on image size, and probably remove a bunch of images as well. That page is so huge that nobody is going to look at the whole thing anyway.

The good part is that I'm showing your host's response time is very good, and I have a fast connection to them. The bad part is that page load time was still borderline for me. If I was on a slow connection I'd be looking elsewhere before your page got anywhere near loaded.

Jim thank you for your help and input.

May I ask is this the reason why I am having problems when I click on any back button from a more info page even though I am not near the home page as such.

It seems getting back from a more info page is what causes me the most slow down.

I didn't check anything for size other than the front page. It did look like some of your other pages are also oversized, so that may very well be true.

Do an internet search for "page load test" and you'll find several sites that will check your page size and load time for you. I would use more than one, since the connect time may vary depending on where the servers are. This will give you an idea of which pages need to be cut down. 1 MB is an absolute maximum for the total page contents; I would aim for half that.

Also, go to your Admin > Configuration > GZip Compression and set Enable GZip Compression to True. That will help with the HTML, but it won't do much for the images. You may have some luck with using a graphics program to compress your images.

I see Jim , thank you.

I have also noticed that all my images are way too big in the KB size. any of the fast sites have images in the 6 kb size. example http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/Produc...49&ev19=1:1

The next best sites have them in the 34-110 kb size.

Mine are being compressed at the moment to those sizes but I have to find a way to get them into the 6kb range.

I talked with Mike who built the site for me and he did a great job in reducing the size of the Home page and compressing the images but we are still having an issue with the back btton.

On my laptop which I am using as a standard against other websites, we are as competitive with regard to opening up new categories clicking on a product for a quick view etc, but when you click on more info and go into the detail page coming out of it with the back button is still way too slow( about 12 seconds)

Any suggestions why this one area is so slow and can we fix it?

The Back button reloads the page quickly on my system. It could be an issue with your laptop. If you have too little memorey to cache the page, your browser will reload everything from the site. This should still be no slower than a new visitor opening the site for the first time. Try clearing the cache in your browser and then open the index page of your site. That's the load time your visitors will see.
