Is it possible to change individual product image sizes?

Some of my products are square, some are vertical, and some are horizontal. When I set the image size in admin they look either squished or stretched. It would be great to change them in the category listings too, but I'm mostly concerned with the product pages. Is there anyway I can make sure my images are in the format they need to be (sq, h, v)? It seems I only have the choice of making them all in one format. Thanks!

Try setting either the vertical or horizontal size and set the other dimension to blank.

Alternativle edit your pictures and get them all to be a standard size before you upload them..

That's pretty much what I do. I load them into Paint Shop Pro and then 'resize the canvas' with the original image in the centre. The uploaded image then shows normally but smaller. Something similar should be available in most image manipulation software packages.

When all else fails ... RTFI ... then ... GIVE UP!

The solution is to install one of the auto thumbnail generators. It will resize the image properly, make the images smaller so your page will load faster and provide a better looking image. Remember to add back the setting you removed since both are required.
