Formatting emails

Hi there,

 

I wonder if anyone can tell me how to edit the formatting of the emails which are sent out upon setting up a new account/placing an order etc etc?

 

I could do it with inline styling in the necessary files but would rather use a module or css modification to avoiding having to do that.

 

Any pointers would be well received.
