Attribute List Sort / Remove Old Order Status help..

Two quick questions I hope.

 

The way we have been handling postage, is to have a product attribute "Postage" and then option values for "UK", "European" and "International". Then have the specific values set up for each product with the 3 different area postage charges.

 

The only problem we have with this is that when on the product info page the drop down list for the postage attribute is not sorted at all. The list always shows International as the default option and then European and then UK last. no matter how many times or ways round I remove the options in the Admin and recreate them it's always shown this way. Most of our orders are UK based and I would like to have UK at the top of the list as default, as we often get people ordering from in the UK and leaving International postage selected not realising.

 

Second questions is can you delete old and now unused order statuses? We have set up statuses for like, received, processing, delivered, completed, cancelled etc etc, but we also have others we use now and then. If we have an event planned and are taking orders for tickets we set up a new status for "ticket waiting dispatch" but then this status is not required after the event. So I've tried to delete the status and it shows and error saying "This order status is used in the order history" or similar. This makes sense, but is there any way to remove them?

Well I've found an nice easy code fix the the sorting of the attribute boxes, but I've got no further information about the order status history issue.

 

Anyone?
