tanya555
I have downloaded oscommerce and at present trying to configure my store front. Can anyone tell me how to delete this from the page? Error Messages If there are any error or warning messages shown above, please correct them first before proceeding. Error messages are displayed at the very top of the page with a complete background color. Several checks are performed to ensure a healthy setup of your online store - these checks can be disabled by editing the appropriate parameters at the bottom of the includes/application_top.php file. Editing Page Texts The text shown here can be modified in the following file, on each language basis: [path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php That file can be edited manually, or via the Administration Tool with the Languages->English->Define or Tools->File Manager modules. The text is set in the following manner: define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of the osCommerce project...'); The text highlighted in green may be modified - it is important to keep the define() of the TEXT_MAIN keyword. To remove the text for TEXT_MAIN completely, the following example is used where only two single quote characters exist: define('TEXT_MAIN', ''); More information concerning the PHP define() function can be read here. Online Documentation Online documentation can be read at the osCommerce Knowledge Base site. Support is available at the osCommerce Support Site. I have installed a template to improve the look of my site but the changes have not deleted this. Can anyone help please?
Enzio_Ferrari
I assume you uploaded and installed all the files with an FTP app. Use it again to edit 'catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php' (select the file with the FTP prog, right click and choose 'Edit' from the drop-down menu). Just in case you make any errors in editing you should be ready to replace it with the original file from your HDD. Be very careful while editing to not alter anything other than the text and/or any HTML in it. The slightest slip will cause the whole page to fail to load. When all else fails ... RTFI ... then ... GIVE UP!
FIMBLE
You need to edit file catalog / includes / languages / english / index.php the line define('TEXT_MAIN', ' '); All of the writing in between the two ' ' you delete and add your own. You need to do this for the German + Spanish too if you are going to use them Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post [/url] My Contributions
tanya555
To follow up on my last post. I have found the solution to this problem. If anyone else wishes to know how to do it. I us Byethost vista panel and log on to my panel: Go to File Manager and follow the path below: /htdocs/includes/languages/english open the english folder and go to index.php and look for: define('TEXT_MAIN', 'This is a default setup of osCommerce Online Merchant. I hope this helps another beginner like myself with little knowledge of html or php.
