php_Guy
IMO, the biggest hurdle in developing an attractive osc site is designing graphics. The built-in graphics are awful. There are some button mods and other graphics packages in the contributions section but most of those aren't much better. Some aren't bad but, of those, the color schemes are limited. I know we have some talented artists around here. If you have the time and inclination, please consider designing some quality graphics and uploading them into the contributions section. What's needed: Button Sets - /catalog/includes/languages/english/images/buttons/*.gif Alternate Language Button Sets - /catalog/includes/languages/<language>/images/buttons/*.gif Table Backgrounds - /catalog/images/table_background_*.gif Navigation Bar Icons - /catalog/images/header_*.gif Search Icon - /catalog/includes/languages/english/images/buttons/button_quick_find.gif Box Graphics - To wrap around infoboxes and other boxes Seamless Backgrounds - Although easy to get elsewhere, a collection of original, public-domain, backgrounds located here would be nice. Category Images - /catalog/images/category_*.gif Sub-Category Images - /catalog/images/subcategory_*.gif Please make sure to only use your own original artwork and state clearly that the images are your own creation and that they are available to be used freely as public-domain images, without restriction. Also, be sure to include the .psd files so folks can make changes to fit their needs. Your fellow store owners really need your help. Think of it as an early xmas gift to the community :)
usernamenone
Sounds like you need to buy Photoshop and learn how to create graphics.
♥GLWalker
Ive already uploaded a variety of button sets. I believe most have PSD files with them too. You got a problem with them? php_Guy
Ive already uploaded a variety of button sets. I believe most have PSD files with them too. You got a problem with them? There are some nice button sets. But there are just a handful and that's it. No table background replacements. No navbar graphic replacements. very little in the way of graphical support at all. We have many skilled developers writing many thousands of mods. I was just trying to get some of the many skilled artists around here to help build up the graphical end of things too. It gets tiring going to the feedback forums and seeing the same stock graphics over and over. And then when you tell them the stock graphics are boring, they either don't know what to do about it or they have to spend inordinate amounts of time scouring the web just for so-so graphics that are more often than not pirated from one site and put up on another as "original" art. Since every single new store owner is going to need new graphics, it just seemed to me that it would be nice if we could build up the stockpile of graphics for them a bit more. But as the guy above you so clearly illustrated, it's much more fun to trash an idea than to actually help out. <sigh> Thanks for your button set contributions though. Too bad we don't have more people like you donating their time and skills that way.

Ive been working on something to upload, but got delayed becuase of hurricane Ike. Anyhow, I plan to include a few templates with it. Only problem is, a user will have to modify all there root files and then it still will use osc tables, it just makes the tables hold the template in place. The changes are small but tedious. My main thing, is that I need some templates to use for adding to the contribution. Follow the community build: BS3 to osCommerce Responsive from the Get Go!
