What does your URL have to do with your site? I was expecting a store selling chef equipment such as knives and pans.

nothing just a testing server.

Very nice! ;)

Just a couple of small things I noticed...

osC stock image - box_products_notifications.gif does not flow with your theme. Maybe just a basic envelope outline image.

Don't forget the SSL.

Maybe a size chart somewhere on your site.

A little more for a product description. "A very nice and warm lambs wool jumper in lots of colours." Is it machine washable or dry clean only? Does it fit loose or snug for it's size? Just some examples of what you "might" be able to add. The Vatna Boot has plenty of info.

Maybe add a multi-image contribution to show the available item options. Such as the different color jumpers.

Lose the page counter in the footer.

I did not try to purchase an item, but the Create Account page is not SSL protected -

http://www.chefchops.co.uk/catalog/create_account.php

Not many people will fill in that info otherwise.

I haven't tried any multi-image contribs, but I hear many use MoPics 6. My guess would be the version by surfalot 10 Feb or 29 Nov

;)

-- Edit --

Just noticed something - strange or a glitch, not sure.

When on the Jumpers categories page, clicking the "buy now" button takes me to the product info page and does NOT add the item to my cart. Being a guest should still add the item to the cart. Might want to look into that.

Also something I don't understand...

From the shopping cart you have a "check out" button PLUS a "Checkout with PayPal" button. Why the two different buttons? You can intergrate PayPal in with the regular checkout process.

Site Review for: Alan Cooper Sports

I suggest that you install the Search engine friendly URL module. Search engine friendly URL's convert your store URL's from:

http://www.yoursite.com/product_info.php?c...p;products_id=1

to:

http://www.yoursite.com/Hardware/Graphics-...atrox-G200-MMS/

This allows search engine spiders to craw your website easily converting convoluted PHP extensions to URL's that are rich in keywords. For more information please visit the link below:

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2823

It is important to make sure that each product info page contains unique Meta descriptions and keywords for each product. Although what you place in the Meta keywords tag and Meta description tag does not give any weight in the ranking algorithms of Google, it may affect what appears in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs). For more information please visit the link below:

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2714

Consider your Title Tag as a representation of your core keywords of the most important services and offerings. Make sure that your core keywords stand out in the title of your index page before anything else. Always remember to utilize the title tag on each individual URL for its specific keyword(s) and keyword phrases.

A site map makes it easier for indexing spiders to find all of the content on your site. Search engine spiders or bots have a hard time following links that use JavaScript, like mouseovers. A site map with a collection of plain text links to all pages can make it easier for more pages of a site to be included in a search engine index. Consider installing the following module:

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2208

Acceptable forms of payment should be clearly displayed on your store to let customers know exactly what forms of payment are accepted. This may include displaying credit card, Google Checkout or Paypal logos. This information should preferably be displayed in the footer. However, under certain circumstances when site pages are too long this information should be displayed within an infobox. See the following module for instructions on how to create a Credit Card Payment Logo Box:

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5413

Images should be kept as small as possible for one reason: speed. Your visitors will not stay around forever to wait for your website to load. To reduce image size you will need to either use a competent image manipulation program or thumbnail module. See the following module for more information:

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/2226

Sometimes simpler is better. Presenting lots of information to users often leads to confusion. I suggest that you reduce the number of infoboxes located within your store. For example, often the currencies and language infoboxes can be removed if only US dollar and English are being offered as options.

The provided osCommerce counter is not accurate and counts page refreshes as new visitors. For more accurate user statistics it is suggest that you refer to AWStats if provided by your hosting company. In addition, consider signing up for Google Analytics.

I suggest removing the product count from your categories infobox. The product count slows down your website's loading time and are generally unnecessary. In addition, if your categories infobox contain (->) arrows, I suggest that these also be removed.

The standard format for US addresses is: Street Address, City, State, Post Code, and Country. I suggest that you move the Post Code field below the State/Province field on both the signup and address book entry edit page. (create_account.php, address_book_process.php).

A Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHA) is a type of challenge-response test used in computing to determine whether the user is human. The main purpose of CAPTCHA is to prevent spam. I suggest installing this module. In addition, if your contact us page contains email addresses, consider removing them. For more information please visit the link below:

I suggest switching to an Amazon style login example here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/sign-in.html This form of login in my opinion is very familiar to many online shoppers. For more information please visit the link below:

Comments:

Overall, the design and layout is very professional. Your store is extremely wide, any reason for designing for such wide screens? on 800 X 600 horizontal scrolling is required to view your store. I would replace the header image as it is extremely pixilated on my screen.

Andrew's Overall Score:

52/100 = 52%

Hey Peter,

I am not positive, but I found this in the create_account.php file =

<title><?php echo TITLE; ?></title>

<base href="<?php echo (($request_type == 'SSL') ? HTTPS_SERVER : HTTP_SERVER) . DIR_WS_CATALOG; ?>">

Check to see if yours has the SSL request line.

Hope that might help!
