Question on Oscommerce

hi all.. i havent used OScommerce in a very very long time.. and i am glad to see that it has come a long way for yester year..

I got a big project coming up and i had a few questions that i would like to ask about OScommerce before i start.

Question is as follows:

1)Can i totally change how oscommerce front end looks ? I have looked at some templates and i believe i will make my own new front end interface with some flash and a more comprehensive menu design system.

2)Is it possible to have multi discount modules running ?? For example the Customer Loyality points and a coupon discount or a discount based upon how much items you have in your cart ?

3)Is it possible to have a related products option ? For example if you are selling shoes can i have the shoes related to socks of the same brand name ??

4)Is it possible to have a recommended product option or list that would follow how the user is browsing the site and show him some products that they may be interested in or if its a returning customer show them recommended items based on their previous purchases ?

5)I have seen all over the web on sites on newegg for example where you click on the image of the items and a nice pop-up comes up allowing you to see the different pictures of each product ?

6)Can the catalog navigation system be redesign graphic wish ?

Thats all the questions i have for now.

Any advice or pointers would be nice.

Also when is 3.0 coming out and how will it work with the modules that are out now ?

All of those are possible but will take some knowledge of php/html etc

Don't use a template - they are generally badly coded and break any other mods you want sto do

Search the contributions section - many things you want will be there.

Reagrding v3 - don't expect it this decade - the last update to the svn repository was in March 08 and the last alpha release (a4) was in March 2007, take a look at the roadmap and you'll see there's still lots to do!
