sturzstrom
Hello all. I posted a review request several months ago and received some excellent feedback. After a short hiatus, I was able to complete my store to the best of my technical ability. I added some modules such as Wishlist, feeder and Google checkout, and got rid of category counts which were slowing the site down considerably. I have about 15,000 or so products so far, with the ability (and desire) to add more in the future. Any comments you can provide would be great. My long-term goal is to become a one-stop-shop for the outdoor enthusiast. I am going to add an article module and try to add SEO if I can. I would also like to use Authorize.net for credit card processing and add SSL to the server. Problems Thus Far 1) One thing I have not been able to get working is the built-in PayPal Payments Standard module that came with the install. The option to use PayPal doesn't show up in the checkout screen. 2) I cannot get Google Base to authorize my products. When I upload a csv file, it comes back as failed. I tried it with both EasyPopulate and Automatic Store Feeds contributions to no avail. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. 3) I need a secure payment processor for credit cards. I may use Authorize.net in the near future. 4) I need to optimize my csv upload files for clothing and footwear to consolidate them into one feed per article (for example, I have 10 listings for the same shoes, one for each shoe size - I would like to consolidate them into one listing with a drop-down menu to select size). The problem I face is that each size of clothing/shoe has a different SKU number, which I need for inventory tracking and ordering from distributor. Thanks, Sturzstrom

I've never used this so i cant answer 3) I need a secure payment processor for credit cards. I may use Authorize.net in the near future. Paypal IS a secure payment gateway. You can keep using standard OR you can upgrade to website payments PRO where they never leave your website and pay right there 4) I need to optimize my csv upload files for clothing and footwear to consolidate them into one feed per article (for example, I have 10 listings for the same shoes, one for each shoe size - I would like to consolidate them into one listing with a drop-down menu to select size). Look in to PRODUCTS ATTRIBUTES. the type that comes with the stock install might work, and there are loads of addons at addons.oscommerce.com and search product attributes and look at all of those different things A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. sturzstrom
orry - I forgot to post the link. You are correct it is HunterFisherDirect.com I am not a computer expert by any means so I do not know many of the basic things some of you take for granted (like changing colors, etc). I purchased a template from Template Monster, but there was a flaw in that there was no password protection for the admin section. Any person that typed in the admin link could peruse the admin section at will. This was obviously no good, so I ditched the template and started from scratch. I may invest some money and hire someone to enhance the current interface. What I was hoping to get in terms of feedback is suggestions on currently available contributions that can add value to my site, PayPal integration advice and whether the categories and products are in a logical format conducive to customer purchase. In other words, when you visit the site, would you as a customer who knows nothing about osCommerce, feel comfortable purchasing from this site, or is teh standard look too amateur-looking to inspire confidence? I received some really great suggestions on my last posting that helped me tremendously and set me on a path to build a better site. This is round 2 and with your help, round 3 will be much better. If anyone can provide me with advice on what I need to relate to a third party company to enhance the look and feel of the site that would be great too. Tahnks for your help thus far!! burt
currently available contributions that can add value to my site Would be different for everyone. Best advice is to seek what you need to make YOUR life easier as the shop owner and then install them. You can always get feedback from your clients should you feel it would be helpful in the future.
