EricaWasHere Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Hi everyone. My client called today and expressed concern that he is getting hosed on a lot of chargebacks because customers are ordering things from his site(car parts/boneyard store), then complaining to the credit card company about the item. The credit card company issues a chargeback and the customer keeps the part. My client called the CC company, and their legal advice to him was to add a clause, a checkbox if you will, somewhere in the order process, that states his conditions for returns/credits (such as damaged goods must be declared upon receipt, no returns on used parts, etc). The customer must then put a check mark in the box stating they acknowledge the terms and conditions of the sale BEFORE being allowed to process the order. They said the only legal way he can cover his butt and either prevent the chargeback from happening or at least legally obligate the customer to return the product, is by putting in this type of acknowledgment where the customer HAS to checkmark it before proceeding. I don't know if this can be accomplished. I would imagine it could, but I don't know the first place to even start to look. I'm fairly new to osCommerce and have been pretty self sufficient so far, but this request has got me boggled. I'm using osCommerce 2.2-MS2. Any help would be SUPER GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Thanks so much! Erica eta: he will supply me with the verbiage, its my problem to figure out how to get it into the order process.

Customer must accept terms and conditions of your store before being allowed to create an account.
EricaWasHere Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 OK i saw something that addresses it from that perspective, but it doesn't address the thousands of customers who have already signed up and created accounts. Anything else? :(
EricaWasHere Posted October 28, 2008 Author Posted October 28, 2008 actually, in looking over that contribution, it appears that it will work both in new account setup and checkout. yay! thanks!
