Hi guys,

I am new to using osCommerce and am currently trying to adapt it to fit in with the practices used within the existing site I am working with. The site currently uses .png images for the higher quality they give, so I am looking to change all the images of osCommerce to be .png, including the images that come with the package, for example the rating stars. However when I replace the existing .gif image with a .png image, it does not display.

Is there a way to change the files extrensions of the icons from .gif to .png?

Ive been looking for some sort of php file which holds all the image names and extensions so that i can edit it and add my own icons.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

The images used in a default install of osC are called from the various routines using descriptive names for the files. The intent was to make it simple to overwrite the called image file for any particular use or location with the data of your choice, keeping the existing filename.

In other words, simply overwrite the .gif file you wish to replace with the png data using the existing .gif filename. It makes no difference to the web server (UNIX or UNIX like anyway, I have minimal experience with IIS) what the name of the file is.

The other solution is to hunt down the request for any particular .gif file and rename the request. This will be in the php code of any number of files.

For ALL problems, please review this link first -> osCommerce Knowledge Base

thanks, i had completely forgotten about the fact that a name in UNIX is simply a pointer.
