uMfazi
Hi. I've had a good look through the boards and thought I was doing Ok, *but* No matter what I do to change the permissions on my catalog/includes/configure.php I still get the error. I've set up all my categories in /admin, and deleted the default ones - but on my main page the defualts are still there and my new ones are not? If you click on a product though you see the new directory structure. Wierd!! I've F5'd to make sure it's not just my cache. On changing the $'s to £'s. I've read all the advice and think I've followed it - but instead of a £ symbol I get a '?' and the prices are showing as 0.00. *sigh* http://www.thebiltonghut.co.uk/catalog/ Thanks in advance for your advice!! uMfazi
Also - how do I just remove the 'languages' and 'manufacturers' modules? *edited to add.... HELP!! I tried to edit the columns_left to get rid of the manufacturers box and now all my site says is: Fatal error: Call to a member function add_current_page() on a non-object in /home/fhlinux142/t/thebiltonghut.co.uk/user/htdocs/catalog/includes/application_top.php on line 312 I've tried to ftp back up an un-edited version of the file - but that didn't fix it. *eek* http://www.thebiltonghut.co.uk/catalog/ :o

uMfazi
*BUMP* Still struggling with the (slightly updated) issues below... any takers?? Hi. I've had a good look through the boards and thought I was doing Ok, *but* No matter what I do to change the permissions on my catalog/includes/configure.php I still get the error. (Stupid! Fasthosts! No CPanel!) I've set up all my categories in /admin, and deleted the default ones - but on my main page the defaults are still there and my new ones are not? If you click on a product though you see the new directory structure. Wierd!! I've F5'd to make sure it's not just my cache. Also have checked it on another laptop, and iPhone and in Chrome, IE and Safari. All doing the same thing. Is there a file somewhere that's maybe not updating? On changing the $'s to £'s. I've read all the advice and think I've followed it - but instead of a £ symbol I get a '?' - on the up side my prices no longer show as 0.00! http://www.thebiltonghut.co.uk/catalog/ Thanks in advance for your advice!! uMfazi
Well, my update so far: I've replaced the "£" with "£" in the currencies dialogue. That's fixed the pound sign issue. I've disabled the error message for the config permissions - because I need to use SSH via "Putty" to properly chmod them (thanks to stupid fasthosts) and I've disabled caching which seems to have sorted out the category list issues. Now I'm working on: Making some fields in the customer sign up process not required getting the Easy Populator add-on to work. and then I need to look at payment modules. I hope they're straigtforward enough. All we'll be using is paypal anyway. Tips & pointers welcome!! :)
dvharrison
The site I am working on at the moment was with stupid FastHosts. We have changed it to United Hosting which are based in the UK. Their customer support is amazing and they have installed OSCommerce on my hosting account in the past. I too am struggling on the £ currency issue.
