RECOMMENDED BOOK FOR OSCOMMERCE 2.2?

pmcvw

Recommended Posts

I have recently been using an "Off the Shelf" commerce package which I find very restricting. I have decided that oscommerce-2.2rc2a seems to offer a lot more flexibility and wish to devlop another online shop using it.

However, I am new to oscommerce-2.2rc2a and but am learning fast. I find the challenges it presents very interesting and stimulating. Can anyone recommend a good reference book to help me along the way and answer all my many queries ? I have looked at several which cover the likes of PHP, MySQL and Apache well but can find nothing which specifically deals with OSCommerce. Is there such a book?

My little grey cells are keen to learn more.

Thanks,

pmcvw

DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. My time is valuable, unless i ask you to PM me, please dont. You will get better help if you post publicly. I am not as good at this as you think anyways!

HOWEVER, you can visit my blog (go to my profile to see it) and post a question there, i will find time to get back and answer you

Many thanks for the reading lists. I ahve just been looking at some of their books. Very informative but obviously nothing yet aimed specifically at OSCommerce 2.2.

Again, Many thanks.

Burt at Club osCommerce has some eBooks for sale. I haven't read them personally but he's a regular on these forums and his posts have been very helpful over the years so I assume they are very good.

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the pointer to clubosc and the osc books site. Some interesting titles which I will examine further! It looks as if there may be some useful tutorials, etc to be had.

Any book by Monika Mathe will be good, she was (when less busy) was very active in this forum. I have no idea who David Mercer is. Burts blog and ebooks are also a great reference.

The forum is also a great resource, just use google to search it.

You can get a peek at Monika Mathe's book at http://books.google.com, just type "deep inside oscommerce" in the search box.

I ordered that today, I've already used a few of the tips that can be seen in the above link. Her instructions are really easy to follow.

Many thanks for your guidance. I am now using a book by David Mercer which has been really helpful. It has increased my desire to learn more and I have just ordered a book by Monika Mathe as well! I am a glutton for punishment.

Once again, many thanks,

Patrick
