CSV upload Catagory Problem

I am uploading a csv file via easy populate to my site. The CSV file lists the catagories which products are in in one column ie:

ID | category | name | price

1 |clothes>mens>shirts | Denim Shirt | 10

2 |clothes>mens>shirts | blue shirt | 11

3 |clothes>mens>shirts | Polo Shirt | 8

This means all the products end up in separate individual categories in oscommerce. Is there any way to tell oscommerce to break this column down into its separate categories, or do i need to hand change each product, which with nearly 3000 products will be a bit time consuming, and also need to be done every time i refresh the store for stock levels etc.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Chris

I don't follow what you are trying to achieve. You can put the products exactly where you want them with easypopulate

thanks for the reply,

i didn't know easy populate could do this, but i have done it by using the "Data" menu and "Text To Columns" funtion in excel which has split the one column of catagories with "clothes>mens>shirts" into three separate columns, category 1 : clothes, category 2 : mens, category 3 :shirts etc.

OK...sounds like you came right then. If the categories don't exist in your store just set them up the way you want them in the csv file and pull them into your store.
