fel_cr
Hi guys, I am in need of the following modification to OSCommerce but I dont know if this exists or I have to develop it from scratch. I would like to have OSCommerce be able to record the user credit card number in 'my account page" and when they make a purchase and select credit card as the preferred option for payment OSCommerce automatically populates the credit card field - in the payment page - with the previously entered credit card number of the client.... Kind of like amazon.com where you can enter different cards and select the best one during checkout, obviously with security measures, etc. This change that I need also makes checkout faster because the user doesn't have to reenter their credit card # everytime they do a checkout. I would appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction to get this done with an existing contribution.... I just dont know if there is such a contribution or if I need to code this from scratch. Thanks guys! :)
GemRock
the first thing i suppose is not to find out how to do what you want to do, it is that you need to be aware of the security implication this may have as you are talking about storing card details in your online shop's database. although it may look cool to have your shop work like amazon etc the big guys, for small business ie those that have online card transactions of less than 20,000 it may not worth it or economically impractical as you will need to feed money to those pci companies, who just find a new way to make money a bit like those seo companies. or maybe yours is a very big business but if that is the case and you are the owner then i guess you dont need to come here to ask this instead you probably would hire some professionals to do all this for you. Guest
pci companies?? I dont know what you are talking about. Yes I am aware of the security implications, that is why the modification needs to be secure Failure to be pci compliant can be very costly and result in you losing your merchant account. Basically, you are not permitted to store the cc details in your osc database.
