the1michaeljones Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I've been able to set up the product as a download. I've checked the paths to the product and they appear to be correct. The file name is the exact same as it has been in every file or folder. On the address http://www.oscommerce.info/docs/english/e_download.html it says that the pub folder should be set to 777. It has now been set to 777. However now the .htaccess has the 777 permissions in the pub folder and in the file following the pub folder and they now should be set to 644. I've found instructions on offering downloadable product from Attitude Group Ltd. creating_downloadable_products.pdf Download from: www.oscommerce.co.nz/docs/. I've followed all of the instructions to no avail. What I am simply trying to accomplish is on the test run for the download link to be offered in the confirmation and/or in the my account section. What does it take to accomplish this task. Or does it take another tool to do this. Any assistance or information regarding what it might take is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Michael, This should work "out of the box" with some simple configuration settings and a product that has its attributes setup correctly. See this link: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=236224 I thought it should too. However, I have now realized that in the configure.php file there was no download code at all. I found it through some research. I've input it and I dont know if correctly but like it has been shown to me and still no download link on the confirmation page. Is there more download code in other files or folders besides the configure.php file.

You do not need to add any code and there should be no code in configure.php. That just sets paths. You do need to change some settings in admin though. That said, I would not recommend using osCommerce for downloads. Someone suggested Secure Delivery as a safer method for distributing digital products. No matter what any documentation says, NEVER set a directory to 777. If you do, you WILL be hacked.
