Looking for a discount per quantity on entire category not individual products

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a contribution or a way to set different prices per quantity, but keep different widgets under the same price breakdown rule. I've installed the Quantity Price Breaks Per Product contribution and that is really close to what I'm looking for, it just treats each product differently. For example:

 

There are 2 styles with the following pricing:

 

1 widget = $2.00 EACH

50+ widgets = $1.00 EACH

 

If I add 49 of 1 style and 1 of the other, I will be charged $2.00 for the style I only ordered one of. I want the shopping cart or store to treat all widgets the same and base the price breakdown on the total amount of widgets in that certain category.

 

Not really sure where to start or if anyone has a way to help me. The business sells wholesale purse hangers in bulk and treats all styles with the same price breakdown.
