the1michaeljones Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 How are permissions changed for files or folders in the file manager? Must you use an ftp client or do it someway through code. Any assistance is appreciated?
dmnalven Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Yes, you must access your files outside of osCommerce. The usual methods are either through an FTP client or the file manager at your hosting services control panel. For ALL problems, please review this link first -> osCommerce Knowledge Base

My hosting services control panel doesn't seem to have a way to directly connect it or transfer it and so far They don't seem to know what I'm talking about. I think they think that once its changed on their control panel it changes on OsCommerce and for me this hasn't happened. I'll give the ftp client a try. Once again thank you.

Once again thank you. does your control panel have a file manager, if so most have the ability to change permissions there, you would browse to the folder needing the change and set it to 777 :)
Jack_mcs Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Permissions should only be set to 777 if the host requires it. 755 is the preferred setting. ♥geoffreywalton Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 You should be able to set permissions from your ISp's file manager. But it can be done via you site as well, Vger recently posted some code to set the permissions for the configuration files or or there are one or 2 add-ons to set permissions ( one of mine does this) Need help installing add ons/contributions, cleaning a hacked site or a bespoke development, check my profile Virus Threat Scanner My Contributions Basic install answers.
