How are permissions changed in oscommerce?

Yes, you must access your files outside of osCommerce.

 

The usual methods are either through an FTP client or the file manager at your hosting services control panel.

 

Thank you. That's a start. My hosting services control panel doesn't seem to have a way to directly connect it or transfer it and so far They don't seem to know what I'm talking about. I think they think that once its changed on their control panel it changes on OsCommerce and for me this hasn't happened. I'll give the ftp client a try. Once again thank you.

does your control panel have a file manager, if so most have the ability to change permissions there, you would browse to the folder needing the change and set it to 777 :)

You should be able to set permissions from your ISp's file manager.

 

But it can be done via you site as well, Vger recently posted some code to set the permissions for the configuration files or or there are one or 2 add-ons to set permissions ( one of mine does this)
