custompilotshirts Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Hello All, The following message comes up when I try to access my website....This Account Has Exceeded Its CPU Quota. The past few days on my Who's Online page I have 2 separate IP addresses come up usually one then the other. They come up about every 30 seconds and then go away after 15 minutes so there are about 26 users online at a time. Then I get a timeout fatal error after about 30 seconds on the page. Anybody know what's going on? Is there a way to disable the who's online feature? Oh, I did add some scripting on every page for stat counter. Rob www.custompilotshirts.com
♥Vger Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 You're hosted with a company that packs its servers to the gills with websites (Host Monster). The more sites there are on a shared server the fewer cpu resources each website is allocated. You may have a problem with visitors using up resources, but your main problem is using a cheap hosting company. Vger
lindsayanng Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 hmmm.. i have used hostmonster for 2 years now and never had anything like that happen with any of my sites.. arietis Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 have you done any research on those ip addresses that come to your site? it's possible that someone is doing a kind of denial of service attack. or if not an outright attack, the result is the same: your site is unusable. if you could tell who that is and determine that they're unwelcome visitors, you could block those ip addresses from entering your site and using up your cpu resources. this would allow your other customers to access your site without problems or interruptions. you don't need to disable who's online. that's just the report to see who has been visiting your site and it's not using up your cpu that much. blocking the ip addresses from your site and using up your cpu time will have the desired effect.

Yes, I suspect that they are malicious attackers. Here are the IP addresses.... 77.68.40.108 and 67.212.167.10. Doing a google search on those addresses brings up talk of a blacklist. That doesn't sound good. How do I block them? Rob

How do I block them? the first ip resolves to live-servers.net and the second is justhost.com. my guess is it's safe to block them both. there are a few ways to block ip addresses of clients. search the forums. there are both contributions as well as modifications to your .htaccess file that can accomplish this. it all depends on how you want it done.
custompilotshirts Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Ok, I have blocked them through my website server (hostmonster). Does anyone think this has to do with JustUptime? I started a trial about the same time all this started to happen. Now I'm trying to install the Security Pro Mod. How do I do this........Upload SecurityPro_installer.php to your catalog folder. Browse to it and the installation will auto insert your admin settings. I got the upload part (I don't have a catalog folder). I just put it in my root with all the other files that would be in the catalog folder. I just have the /admin folders and files in my admin section...so how do I navigate to the SecurityPro_installer.php? Rob
custompilotshirts Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 Nevermind...I opened up a BROWSEr and ran the file.
