Installing through GoDaddy.

Hi,

I have a hosting account at GoDaddy and am trying to install OsCommerce through the GoDaddy Hosting Connection (allows me to easily install applications).

I move through the installation process, however, when I get to part 3 of installation "Configure Installation" I get the following message:

"There was an error in setting up the database. Check your database options and try again."

I do have a SQL Database and everything seems fine.

I appreciate your help.

Did you ...

1. create a database prior to running the installation

2. know your database login credentials i.e. user name and password for phpmyadmin

3. take note of the ip address of your database server? You'll see it when you log in to your phpmyadmin.

4. set the permission to both configure.php files to 755

You may want to refer to Quick Install Guide

I did all you said but I still get the error, I think i'll double check my database.

Under Hosting Control Center...Databases...MySql you can click the Edit button under the Action column in the database list and it will give you the server information and such. I'm trying to set up osCommerce on my GoDaddy server and I've installed it multiple times, but it's not working so let me know how yours goes.

I just e-mailed them, I'll post my results when I get an answer.

Did you say that you were using a SQL Server database or a MySql database? Also, I just figured out that in GoDaddy you have to have them set you up with a Linux server for it to work. You probably already know this stuff, but just in case.
