Question about the newsletter.php file

I have a newsletter box on my website, which lets my customers fill in their e-mailaddress to receive my newsletter.

So far so good.

 

There is a standard text in the box that says "Your e-mail". However, when you click the box I am used to the fact that

the text automatically disappears, as is the case on other sites.

 

For my site, this does not happen. Anyone knows how I can fix this with Javascript? I tried some stuff, but I kept on getting

php-errors. Any help is appreciated.
