Newb needs a little help

Hello,

 

I have been working on my store now for a while trying to get everything to look the way I want. I am far from done but there have been a couple questions that have been plaguing my mind. I look and look but just can't seem to figure out the answer. So I wanted to see if anyone knew the solution to my problem or answer to my questions.

 

1st.

 

I will have multiple companies shipping products for me. How do I set it up so that certain products have certain shipping charges. I can't figure out how the shipping modules work with this problem.

 

for example green apple cost $5 to ship from company A

Red apple cost $3 to ship from company B

The shipping prices combine in the shopping cart to $8

 

My second Question

 

Can I make an attribute that changes my products model number...one coffee is regular and one is decaff...how do I do this?? Attributes are very confusing. I don't understand how to make them do anything but inform me what selection the customer makes.

 

If I am asking stupid questions I am sorry. I have read and I just can't seem to figure out these few things.

1) You can create new shipping options by copying an existing one and editing the code so as to make a new option. Files to look at are includes\modules\shipping and includes\languages\english\modules\shipping

 

2) Go to Admin - Catalog - Product Attributes AFTER creating a product called coffee. On the left create a new product option called (for eg) TYPE. Then create option values for TYPE (for eg) regular and decaff. Then at the bottom of the page select the product called coffee and apply the attributes you created.

But how do I apply the shipping rules to only one group of products and then have separate rules for certain products?

This I am not sure of...sorry. Try searching conributions for advanced shipping options.
