pdfx Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Hello all I am a designer and have been meaning to look at OSC for a while. I have now got a design job and someone wants a webshop, so its now time for me to investigate!! After reading some of the comments can someone give me some good answers and feedback on these points: 1 - Is OSC reliable and ok for up to 2000+ products? If you have a shop that uses that amount of items can I see a link? 2 - Can I use any merchant back as the final step or are you restricted? 3 - Can you import items say on a excel or access file? how? Thanks looking forward to your replies P

You can get anything to work if you try hard enough. 3) Yes - The easy populate contribution will do this for you.
php_Guy Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Hello allI am a designer and have been meaning to look at OSC for a while. I have now got a design job and someone wants a webshop, so its now time for me to investigate!! Sorry to disallusion you but now that you've got a job isn't the time to investigate. Six months ago was. Osc isn't really usable out of the box. Aside from some security issues, it will need a great deal of customization and design. Even if you are already skilled at php, mysql, html, css, photoshop, marketing and design, the customization can be a lengthy process. I'd suggest reading the forums heavily for a few days before getting started, especially the feedback forum where people get feedback on their stores. Also xampp (at apachefriends.com) speeds things up quite a bit once you have it installed. Here are some links to mods I would recommend. hth
pdfx Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 Hello guys, Thanks for the comments, appreciated, I am starting now to look at more posts etc. As for my shop, the design will be fairly simple, just logo, maybe some colours etc, so this would be perfect for my eeds me thinks. I will al look into the recommended links, thanks again P
