Hotclutch Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Hi Can somebody point me in the right direction with regards to getting my store to show up in a Google search. I am not looking for a top ranking here. I have installed Cdynamic meta tags contribution and modified my index.php and product.info.php for meta tags. Also have Use Search engine safe URLs set to true in admin. When I do a search in Google for my store, nothing appears.
germ Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Try searching for your site just using the domain name without the www. Just your_domain.com Do you get any hits with that? If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. Hotclutch Posted October 18, 2008 Author Posted October 18, 2008 Try searching for your site just using the domain name without the www. Just your_domain.com Do you get any hits with that? If I put just my domain name, Google returns my company name with all the manufacturers of products listed on my site. So that's good. But if someone puts into Google, say ASUS motherboards online retailer, then there's nothing for me. Is there anything I can do to get listed in a search like that?
germ Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 I found a link to an electronics store ("your url") in one of your posts, but when I look at the HTML source, I see no meta tags. If that is indeed your site, it needs meta tag work. germ Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Look at them: <META NAME="Description" Content="xxxxxxx Electronics -"> <META NAME="Keywords" Content=""> That will get you nowhere on Google. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. germ Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Where ever the contribution you installed says to, I reckon. I did Easy Meta tags (I think) and had to "wing it" in a few places to get it to work like I wanted. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.
