Mulitple stores - one admin/one database

Here's my dilema. I've put a LOT of time and effort into getting my store running and functional and to the point where I can maintain everything on my own. Now I'm branching into other businesses that do not all fit under the same type of store. What I would like to be able to do is have multiple stores/multiple domains that are all controlled by one admin panel and one database if possible. I'd also like to be able to use the same basic design but customize each new store with different images etc.

Is this possible?

Is this advisable?

Or is it simpler to maintain two to three separate stores all at once.

Thanks

Use Hobzill Multi store contrib.

It works great.

I've been trying for quite some time now to install multi-stores in osc v2.2 rc2a. Now it seems that it got it to work (somehow).

First of all you need to fallow the steps that Jugeti suggested:

1º Install osCommerce v2.2 RC2a

2º Once installed the store, go to the created database and to suppress the table "administrators"

3º Once suppressed the table administrators, make the installation of Multi-stores v2.0, following the instructions included in the package

I have made this way the installation and it works well and at the moment I have not detected any problem.

Jugeti

Onece your done installing multi-stores you'll get the following error:

Server Requirement Error: register_globals is disabled in your PHP configuration. This can be enabled in your php.ini configuration file or in the .htaccess file in your catalog directory.

to fix this I added the code from Magic SEO URL for osCommerce (Running osCommerce with Register Globals Off) . Apparenly everthing is running ok.

I hope this helps. :D

Hi lads, this seems to be a comprehensive enough thread for the multi stores add-on.

Im gonna try the Multi-Stores multiple shop system http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/1730 it seems to be the more popular of the lot...

My question is, i have a client with 6 stores (newspaper reader offers) which basically sell the same products and i was wondering how long it would take to install this mod and integrate his 6 stores into 1? A few days, or a week or more? Any ideas? Just wanna give this guy the best quote possible without screwing myself for time it takes to do it, plus i originally made his 6 stores so ive known this guy for years at this stage so i wanna keep the price as low as possible. (wish i'd known about this mod back then...)

Would i be right in thinking that once you have 1 site setup with this mod that any additional stores are fairly quick to setup? In that case, how long did it take you all to install the initial first store with this mod?

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

You need to just make sure that multistopre code admin and RC2 admin functionality is merged.

Hey everyone...I think this is the right thread for me to ask this in, but if not, please point me in the right direction. I am setting up a store that will have multiple vendors (suppliers) in it and what I need the ability to do is to allow each individual vendor(supplier) to be able to log in via the admin and check their own particular sales and stats, but not be able to see the other vendor sales and stats.

Does one of these "multi store" add ons allow that?

Thanks!

Oh, and what does "suppress the table "administrators"" mean? I am in my db administration table and see no "suppress" option. Does "suppress" mean something else? I need each vendor to have their own login in the admin, so do i need to clone the admin table?

Thanks

Ok, so I figured out the db issue and got that worked out. But, after install of contribution 1730, and changes to the pages as per the instructions, I was getting a whack of T string errors, parse errors, etc. So I said f-it and did a fresh install of OSC. This is a new store, so no data was lost.

Anyway, instead of dedicating a few more hours of my time on this, I need to know if contribution 1730 will allow me to do the following taking into account the fact that I am setting this all up on one domain with one database.

- Set up "stores" with individual suppliers/producers products within my main store. (I believe that 1730 will)

- Share the shopping cart and checkout between the "stores". (according to the contribution page for this product, it won't, but is the description of the contribution updated?)

- Allow me to set up different admin accounts per supplier/producer so they can log in and check their sales and stats without having access to the other suppliers/producers sales and stats info. (Dunno if 1730 will do this, but I think I've seen other contributions that will)

If 1730 can do all this, I'll give it another go...if not, please point me in the direction of where I can find a contribution that will do all this.

Thanks!

Could you share which contributions you have seen which you think will do this. I'm wanting to do the same thing, have multiple vendors with their own account to check their sales but haven't found any add-ons that will do that.

Also, what is 1730 - nothing comes up in add-on search?

Dali,

If you refer to post#5 of this thread you will see the listing of 'related' contributions on this topic.

FYI to everyone, I am currently working on reviving OSC MALL, which is based on OSC but has added features. I am not sure I will be able to add OSC MALL as a contribution once completed but I will inquire about it once it is complete.

If you Google OSC MALL you will see the project was abandoned in 2006 but I think it could potentially be what everyone has been looking for.

I will update this thread once I have completed the revival.

Hello,

I'm trying to get the multi-store working :) i have deleted and just completed a fresh install hoping to fix my problem. In the innstructions it references: "Update the admin/stores.php and add your other, previously installed contribution configuration table updates, into the INSERT section (you can't miss it -- lines 72-241). Make sure and do so PRIOR to selecting the option to "Insert default configuration"" if ihave just the default install on both the multi store and the OSC v2.2 would i need to edit anything in that section?

Thank you,

Aaron
