Some paypal orders dont come through anymore

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have osCommerce 2.2-MS2, and the $Id: paypal_ipn.php,v 1.1.2.11 2004/12/05 installed, which worked absolutely fine untill now.

Lately Paypal Payments have come through, with no details of the order. Just the ordertotal and customer name.

Looking in the backend admin, and in the database, these customers have accounts, no orders showing for them.

This problem occured with 5 orders so far, 2 of them I managed to retrieve basket, other 3 have no basket (anymore?)

I did have a problem with the session IDs being shared by customers, installed the Session Regeneration (http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/4112/v,22) on the 13th Oct. Have had Paypal payments come through since then.

Only thing i noticed is their status has changed. When it used to be "Preparing Paypal IPN" it is now just "pending".

And the problem with just the payment coming through and no order being logged seems to appear only after the Session Regeneration.

Could the Session Regenerate be at fault here? And what would be a solution, has anyone had similar problems?

Thanks for your time in advance

(Please let me know if you need any mor info from me)

I'm having the same problem as the OP. My PP IPN 1.1 just stopped working suddenly.

I get payment emails from PP, but their orders are logged as Pending instead of Processing and there are no order confirmation emails being sent to me or the buyer and stock is not being subtracted.

I wrote to PayPal, and they told me this:

I have tested your checkout and it does not appear that you are calling an IPN script from your code. Please check your PayPal Profile to make sure that you have properly configured your IPN.

My IPN preference in PP is turned Off. But, I installed PP IPN 2.3.4 after the first module quit working and according to the documentation in the Install.txt, you don't have to have it turned on. That module isn't working, either. Same thing is happening as described above.

The documentation says:

You do NOT need to enable the IPN in your PayPal account as all the required information is sent by the module.

Is that correct? I'm thinking...since it's been so long since I even installed the first one, 1.1...that if my IPN Preferences are turned off in my PP profile...they always WERE turned off. But, that first mod was fine for a couple of years. Now I can't get any of them to work. I'm back to using the one that comes pre-installed with OSC 2.2. God help me.

In the event that I need to turn IPN Preferences ON in my PP Profile...what would be the Notification URL I would insert? I'll try anything.

I just wanted to provide an update regarding all of my angst in my last post in this thread.

My PP version 1.1 up and died this past week, after a couple of years of use. I installed 2.3.4...same problem. I installed 2.1. Same problem.

This evening, I installed PP IPN version 1.4...and I'm back in business.

Why is this working for me? I have no idea. I guess, depending on your version of OSC (I'm 2.2-MS2) and perhaps how heavily modded your site may be (quite a bit for me)...that may be the deciding factor in whether or not one version of PP IPN works and the others don't.

PayPal emails, order confirmation emails, stock subtracted...I'm a happy girl again!

There were no changes made to any of the Paypal account settings,

Auto return is OFF and always has been.

IPN is off and always has been.

Although I noticed after pressing the "Continue to complete order" button I got redirected to my login.php page

where I was not logged in anymore and after loggin back in my cart was still there.

Changes made eas the session regeneration install, all was working well untill around then,

but some orders still came through fine, just a very small percentage of the actual overall paypal orders.

Now I have gone with puggybelle's suggestion, because the way she describes it is same as my issue.

I have just upgraded from Paypal IPN 1.1 to Paypal IPN 1.4 and placed to two testorders. Both seem to have come through

fine even though i did not press the "continue to complete order process" button on the 2nd order.

Along with several others waiting for PayPal_JohnF we got notice from PayPal that the IPN would stop working in September.

If you are getting emails & "processing" status that's big news to me. When did your IPN's stop working?

Hi,

I started having the same problem when my web host made changes to the server. When I checked I noticed that my file named http://www.mysite/catalog/ext/modules/paym...pal_ipn/ipn.php was gone.

In fact, the whole "modules" directory had disappeared so I uploaded the file from an old backup, did a test order and it worked.

So you might want to check with your web hosting company.

Hope that helps.

Best regards

I have a similar problem. If a customer puts through, but does not click the link to return to my site after order, the order is never received by my shop - can this be fixed, I am having a nightmare.

Thanks

You need to set Auto return to on(This is very important). Also in Paypal profile set IPN to on.

Custmoer on Payment should return without a need to click.

Plus chek that IPN is recd and processed by your code.
