mrserv0n Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hi, I just checked my whos online and normally I have about 10 - 20 custos at a time but when I looked I had about 85 and 60 of them were the same IP just looking through everything. So I checked the IP on google and sure enough its a bot. Other than spamming my sites bandwidth which I could care are bots something I should ban the IP, or are they a good thing? I dont understand what their for other than indexing which I assume WOULD be a good thing?
♥toyicebear Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 It differs you have good bots, useless bots and bad bots Good boots are search engine spiders which indexes your site and make your site "findable" in various search engines Useless bots are research, general private bots, test bots, bots from obscure search engines Bad bots are bots who basically roam the web to steal and copy content and those looking to uncover security flaws in sites used for hacking and injection +++++ The God bots you want, useless ones does not mather much unless you have limited bandwidth limits, the bad ones should be stopped as quickly as possible.
