Guest Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Hi, I'm building an OSCommerce store where 99 percent of the products are free downloads. Is there something where I can take off the price? But people still need to sign up and add to cart their downloads.. then go through the checkout and buy? I have the free of charge contribution which is great ... its just that having $0 next to all the products spoils the look of it ... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks very much. Steve

Guest Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 If price = 0.00 dont display price By the way, could I ask you, what was the file name it should be if you put a doanloadable file catelog/download folder? Does it require the name matches the product name? Thanks

Guest Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Thanks for the reply... I looked at the contribution and it offers an option to Contact Us if the price is zero ... I wanted the user to be able to go ahead and buy the download for free .... Or.. I really want them to open an account before they can download a file .... and the products that are free to have no price displayed .... i'll install the contrib and see how it works :) and I don't think the filename has to match the product name for downloadables ... you just set the file to download in the product attributes ... Cheers
lindsayanng Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 You just need to put the FREE DOWNLOAD up as a product and make the price $0.00 then you can change the text instead of CALL FOR PRICING you can make it says FREE DOWNLOAD (or whatever you want - it is in the languange file for that contribution) The file name DOES NOT have to match anything. it just needs to be applied to that product name in order for the download link to show up.. Since it is a product, if you require customers to create an account to purchase, then they will need to create an account anyways to get the free download You also have to install this module in order to bypass the payment pages for free items: FREE OF CHARGE PAYMENT MODULE Can you tell i have been dealing with this myself?? if you have any questions regarding downloads, i can probably help you A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. Guest Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Hey Lindsay, thanks for the reply .. I've installed the contrib and it appears to be just what i wanted :) Only ... where do you change the "Phone for price"? .... i've looked in all the files for the contrib .. i've looked in the languages english.php and index.php and can't find it referenced... Does anyone know where it is? .. the call for it appears to be "productListing-data" .... Wouold much appreciate some help .. Thanks alot Steve
Guest Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 I thought i'd better give this a *bump* before it disappears <_<
lindsayanng Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 BUMPING IS AGAINST THE RULES>. i have no idea where to change it.. is it a button or text?? if its a button right click and view properties.. that will tell you what the filename is and where the file is located.. If it is text, then somewhere in the instructions, they would have told you to open a catalog/includes/languages/ file.. Where those instructions are, see if there is text that says CALL FOR PRICE and change it to FREE DOWNLOAD I have nevber used the contribution, so i cant give you a clear answer A great place for newbies to start Road Map to oscommerce File Structure DO NOT PM ME FOR HELP. Guest Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 mind posting the actual fix so that others who come across this thread find the answer too? It was simple really .. I must have been blind for not seeing it!! In: catalog\includes\modules\product_listing.php .. theres the code: if ($listing['products_price'] < 0.01 ) $lc_text = 'Phone For Price'; So "Phone For Price" can be anything you like.
gradeslayer Posted October 30, 2008 Posted October 30, 2008 I have installed the free of charge module and I set the module to set status to delivered but it is not doing that upon completetion the order is pending am I missing something?

dhildebra Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I'm having some trouble with this contribution. I installed it by uploading the respective freeofcharge.php files to their corresponding folders and I installed the FOC payment module from my admin page. If I have a non-zero item in my cart, checkout proceeds normally. If my cart has only a $0.00 free item in it, when I click on checkout I get a blank screen. Any suggestions? Thanks!
